Opening of the 153rd theater season
On September 13, 2025, the solemn opening ceremony of the 153rd season of the National Theater was held under the organization of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Union of Theater Workers and the Academic National Drama Theater.
Representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Theater Workers, theaters operating in the country, intellectuals and media workers participated in the event held at the Academic National Drama Theater.
After the welcoming speech of the presenters, the thoughts of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev about the theater were voiced. Speaking at the event, Intigam Babayev, Head of the Department of Art and Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Chairman of the Union of Theater Workers, People's Artist, State Prize Laureate Haji Ismayilov congratulated art lovers on the opening of the new theater season, spoke about the honorable path that the Azerbaijani theater has taken, and expressed valuable thoughts about the present and future of the theater.
The ceremony noted the attention and care of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the President of the country, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva in the field of protection, development, and promotion of our cultural values in the world, and emphasized the successful results of the state's support for the theater.
The ceremony, rich in colorful songs and dances, spoke about the successes achieved by the National Theater in Azerbaijan and beyond its borders in the past season. The performances of the "Kaman" dance group, People's Artist Azer Zeynalov, soloist of the State Song Theater Aynur Isganderli, and soloist of the International Mugham Center Bayimkhanim Valiyeva, who spoke at the event, added a special color to the event.
Then the floor was given to the theaters. Scenes from the performances in the repertoire were presented by the actors of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater, the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater, the Azerbaijan State National Theater for Young Spectators, the Shusha State Musical Drama Theater, and the Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theater.
