Meeting with an outstanding theatre artist, art historian, Honored artist, Elchin Mukhtar Elkhan.
On 3 February, 2014, a meeting with an outstanding theatre artist, art historian, Honored artist, Elchin Mukhtar Elkhan was held at the Union of Theatre Workers.
The event featured a slideshow by the artist “Compositions of Neominiatures”. The event was attended by representatives of the theatre community, artists and young artists.
Elchin Mukhtar Elkhan has been working with computer graphics for more than 5 years, creating a new interpretation of our miniature art. The purpose of the meeting is to acquaint young creative people with new samples of outstanding artists.
It should be noted that on 25 January, an outstanding artist turned 80 years old. The decorations that the artist makes for different theatre stages of our country are the pearls of our performing arts.
Elchin Mukhtar Elkhan was born in 1934 in Baku in a family of intellectuals. In 1960 he graduated from the Leningrad Art Academy. He was engaged in design, graphics, painting and miniatures.
In 1962 he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He performed great decorations for the performances “You are always with me”, “The Dead”, “Khayyam”, “Without You”, “The Second Voice”, “The Story Begins”, “Khurshudbanu Natavan” and others in the National Drama Theatre for the play "Leyli and Majnun" at the Opera and Ballet Theatre.
He was awarded the Sultan Mohammed Prize of the Union of Artists and the Union of Writers. In 1982-89, he was chairman of the section “Miniature and Book Design” of the Union of Artists. In the film “Nasimi” was a costume designer, as well as the art director of the cartoon “Jyrtdan”. He created visual images of famous medieval miniaturists, our ashugs.
Elchin, as an artist, tightly connected with national roots, made a design for 60 children’s books. He is the author of more than 200 scientific articles, more than 20 scientific works. Among them are the “Legend of the Father of the Sun”, “Azerbaijani Wedding: A Guide to the Culture of Our Wedding”, “Zorkhana Culture”, “Heel of Noah”, “Great predecessor of Novruz”, “Folk performances”, “Younger son of the King”, “Melikmammad”, “Seven Wednesdays, Seven Holidays”, “The Artist and the Computer”, “Rise, rise, the Sun”, “Nard Set”.
